After training as an elementary school teacher, Andreas Niederhäuser studied German, history, and philosophy—with a focus on the Middle Ages—at the Universities of Zurich and Hamburg, earning a licentiate (master’s degree). During his many years as a scholarly editor at the Archaeological Survey of Switzerland, he was responsible for ensuring the accuracy of content and form across a wide range of text types, from short press releases and popular science essays to master’s theses and extensive dissertations. For over 25 years, he has been a member of the editorial board of a historical yearbook that publishes contributions from both seasoned historians and cultural scholars as well as students and non-academic researchers.
